The Book Thief Square Pattern

The Book Thief Square by Tuppence

Design inspired by The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

The description of the design components (and what parts of the book inspired them) includes possible spoilers, so I won't include that description and explanation here. It is available in a post on the Ravelry Book Club group page on Ravelry:

Size: Approximately 8 x 8 inches

Materials used:

Red Heart Super Saver yarn (or any worsted-weight yarn) in Coffee, Shaded Browns and Bright Yellow

Size 8 knitting needles (or size needed to obtain gauge)

Yarn needle

Gauge: 17 stitches and 23 rows = 4" x 4" in stockinette stitch

Cast on 34 stitches with Coffee. (Odd-numbered rows are the right side.)

Then commence chart. Each row is how it appears as it is on your needles.

When changing colors, be sure to wrap the new color around the old color to prevent gaps.

The last row (48) is the binding-off row. Bind off as if to knit.

The Bright Yellow stars are added in duplicate stitch after all the knitting is completed. Weave in all yarn ends.
